Performance is built from the floor up. Be Lenka men’s sports barefoot shoes give you the base training needs. Direct contact with the surface, a stable stance and a foot that truly works at full capacity the way it was made to. The rest is up to you.
From the barbell to the bike: where barefoot helps the most
Most where stability and feel decide. In the gym during compound exercises, where a firm stance means cleaner technique and a safer lift. In kettlebell training and circuits, where the position of the foot changes every second. On the bike and at spinning, where the thin sole transfers all the force into the pedal. And in ordinary brisk walking, which we still rather underrate as training.
The first weeks of training in barefoot footwear
After years of idleness in tight shoes, the foot muscles need a sensible ramp-up. In the first weeks, reduce the training volumes in standing exercises and let the body find its new stance. Excellent preparation is ordinary walking in barefoot footwear outside training; it strengthens the feet without you changing anything in the plan. After a few weeks, you’ll find you stand firmer on the ground than ever before.
Recovery starts at the feet
You can progress in training even on rest days, and that’s when barefoot comes into play again. A walk on a rest day gets the blood flowing, an active foot improves ankle stability and stronger leg muscles mean fewer problems that can stop training for weeks. If you recover by moving in nature, for trail walks and runs in the terrain reach for men’s outdoor barefoot shoes.
Gear that doesn’t get in the way
Good sports footwear is recognised by you not knowing about it during training. Be Lenka sports models therefore build on minimal weight, breathable materials that handle an intense tempo and our own sole compounds with grip suited to training surfaces. Every model goes through testing over thousands of steps, the slow ones and those at full effort. You take care only of the performance; the gear is solved.
Are barefoot shoes suitable for crossfit and functional training?
+ -For most functional training, yes; a stable stance and a feel for the surface are an advantage in compound exercises. With high-impact elements, increase the load gradually and watch how the body reacts. Many athletes train in barefoot footwear deliberately, precisely for stronger feet.
Can I play football or tennis in barefoot shoes?
+ -For recreational ball games with the kids or easy training, yes. Competitive ball sports with sharp changes of direction and sprints, though, call for specialised footwear with lateral support and a sole suited to the given surface. Use barefoot for conditioning and strength work, where it gives the feet the most.
Do I need a different model for sport than for everyday wear?
+ -For light exercise and walks, a universal everyday pair will serve too. Regular training, though, deserves a sports model. A more breathable upper handles sweat, firmer lacing fixes the foot during more dynamic movements and a sole with better grip holds on training surfaces. On top of that, your footwear won’t wear out at double the pace.
